Before finding his way to our Health & Performance team at Canyon Ranch Lenox in the Berkshires, Mark worked in private practice for 25+ years, mostly in Hawaii, specializing in massage and Eastern Medicine. He has extensive experience as a teacher of massage therapy, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, and acupuncture points and theory. He loves helping people explore multiple holistic paths to healing and to become empowered to “become their own best doctor.”

His specialties include the use of herbs, pulse, tongue, ear diagnosis, orthopedic and medical acupuncture, and palpation/massage. Mark says he approaches Eastern Medicine like being “a health detective.” Experience and thorough intake questions about all facets of life help to determine what may be contributing to their chronic health challenges. This allows for the treatment of the root causes of many conditions, not just the symptoms. … I love it when patients become inspired to seek out a variety of holistic approaches to increase their wellbeing and happiness.”

When not at the Ranch, Mark enjoys golfing, relaxing with naps on the beach. He also practices vipassana meditation. An interesting fact about Mark is that when he met the Dali Lama at his home in Dharamshala, India in 1990, he was able to ask his Holiness how he was feeling (after a bout of exhaustion) and if he wanted to have a beer with him. Mark’s words of live by: “Your body is a temple. Treat it as such and it will reward you.”
